Wolfgang Friedrich Wilhelm Siegfried Pickert (3 February 1897 – 19 July 1984) was a highly decorated General der Flakartillerie in the Luftwaffe during World War II who commanded the III. Flak Korps. He was also a recipient of the Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross with Oak Leaves. The Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross and its higher grade Oak Leaves was awarded to recognise extreme battlefield bravery or successful military leadership.
In Jan. 1943, Major-General Pickert, commander of the 9th Flak Division, was able to fly out of the cauldron, avoiding capture.[1]
Wolfgang Pickert was captured in May 1945 by American troops and was transferred to British custody until January 1948.
