Zhengzhou–Kaifeng Intercity Railway, also known as the Zhengbian Intercity Railway, is a partially completed high-speed railway in Henan Province, China, between the cities of Zhengzhou and Kaifeng. It is a component of the larger Central Plain Metropolitan Intercity Rail network. Construction commenced on December 29, 2009. With a designed top speed of 200 Kph, it is built as a double tracked electrified passenger dedicated line. Total length of this project is 50.33 kilometers, costing an estimated 5.5 billion yuan to construct. The project has been built in two phases, Phase I (Zhengzhou East - Song Cheng Lu) was completed on December 17, 2014,[1] & Phase II (Song Cheng Road - Kaifeng station) is expected to be completed by 2017.

Route

Phase I

This phase runs from Zhengzhou East Railway Station to Songchenglu Railway Station, via Jialuhe, Luboyuan and Yulianghe. These stations are fully operational.[2] A further seven station sites are still under construction along this route at Zhongyi Xueyuan, Dayouzhuang, Yuantangshu, Dameng, Dangzhuang, Cangzhai and Bian West.

Phase II

Phase II will be extended to Kaifeng Railway Station and set aside the Huanghe Dajie Railway Station site in an extension, the program starting in 2015 and to be completed during 2017.

Apart from Zhengzhou East and Kaifeng Stations, and the rest are new station sites.

Equipment types

This railway is using CRH2A type EMU,with eight cars, each with a total capacity 613 people and running a top speed of 200 km/h.[1]

Fare structure

Fares ranges from 28 yuan for a full fare first-class seat, second-class seat is 18 yuan over the whole distance. The shortest and minimum fare is 11 yuan for a first-class seat, 7 yuan for second-class seat. The elderly, children and disabled soldiers enjoy a 30% discount.[3]
