Humayhumay
Humayhumay is one of the 44 barangays of the municipality of Ubay, in the province of Bohol, Philippines.
The barangay's total area is 815 hectares (2,010 acres).[3] According to the 2010 census, it has a population of 1,708. In the 2013 election, it had 891 registered voters, meaning that 52% of the population are aged 18 and over.[2]
Humayhumay celebrates its annual fiesta on 14 February in honor of their patron saint.
Location
Humayhumay is situated on the northwestern peninsula of the municipality. It is bounded to the north by Pangpang, to the east by Achila, to the south by Camambugan and to the west by the municipality of Trinidad. Humayhumay is 7 km (4.3 mi) from the town center, Poblacion.
Political subdivisions
There are seven puroks overseen by the elected kagawads.
History
Formerly Humayhumay was a part of barangay Camambugan, before it became a separate barangay. The name came from the Visayan word Humay which means rice, because the place is said to be the largest rice granary of the municipality.
