Bay-ang

The barangay's total land area is 632 hectares (1,560 acres)^[3] According to the 2010 census, it has a population of 1,656. In the 2013 election, it had 1,037 registered voters, meaning that 63% of the population are aged 18 and over.^[2]

Bay-ang celebrates its annual fiesta every 21 May in honor of its patron saint.

Location

Located in the central part of the municipality, Bay-ang is landlocked and is bounded to the north by Casate, Calanggaman and the Municipality of Tuboran, to the east by Imelda, to the west Tubog, and to the south by Pag-asa and Imelda.

The name may be derived from the [Banyan] tree which is common near the river.Long time ago, a family from Talibon lived in this place. They are Autida families. They named the place Bay-ang after the banyan tree that is common near the river there. Later they registered and inaugurated it as the Barangay of Bay-ang.

Government

There are seven Puroks in the Barangay,overseen by the elected Kagawads.Every puroks has an elected officers.

Economy

People in the barangay are mostly farmers whose living is based on planting rice, camote, cassava, banana, and other vegetables. Some till small agricultural lots. Some of the population weave mats and produce palm oil and coconut products.
