Beijing-Zhangjiakou Intercity Railway is Chinese high-speed railway currently under construction between the Chinese national capital, Beijing and Zhangjiakou in Hebei province. This route will have a length of approximately 173.947 kilometers of double tracked high speed rail, with a designed speed of 250 km/h but operating at 200 km/h. Initially planning was for 9 stations, with a 10th station added with the branch to Yanqing. The railway was originally scheduled to start construction in 2009,[1] however due to the Ministry of Railways adjusting the high-speed rail construction program this was postponed until 2014.[2] This railway is expected to connect with the future Zhangjiakou-Hohot High Speed Railway and Datong-Zhangjiakou High-Speed Railway, both currently under construction too.
