Line 9 of Shenzhen Metro will run eastward from Hongshuwan to Wenjin. It will have 10 transfer stations. The line is 25.38 km long, running through the city’s districts of Nanshan, Futian and Luohu, and is expected to start revenue service in December 2016.

Naming

Line 9 was previously known as the Meilin Line, and before that as the Neihuan Line, which means a line which is annular. In December 2011 the alignment of this line was changed,[1] so the old name no longer fits.

Construction

Construction of Line 9 started in 2012, with main stations completed in July 2014, other stations in March 2015 with tunnels planned for September 2016 and trial operation for December 2016. Shenzhen Metro Line 3 Operations was responsible for construction and planned operation of the line, until their merger with SZMC (Shenzhen Metro Group) in April 2011.
