Churchu is a community development block that forms an administrative division in the Hazaribagh Sadar subdivision of Hazaribagh district in the Indian state of Jharkhand.
Geography
Churchu is located at 23°54′26″N 85°30′44″E / 23.90722°N 85.51222°E.[1]
Demographics
As per 2011 Census of India Churchu CD Block had a total population of 53,705, of which 46,863 were rural and 6,842 were urban. There were 27,458 males and 23,847 females. Scheduled Castes numbered 7,776 and Scheduled Tribes numbered 12,952.[2]
Charhi is a census town in Churchu CD Block.[2]
Literacy
As per 2011 census the total number of literates in Churchu CD Block was 30,903 out of which 18,339 were males and 12,564 were females.[2]
Economy
The Charhi area has significant reserves of coal.[3]
