Simaria (Hindi: सिमरिआ ) is a community development block that forms an administrative division in Simaria subdivision of Chatra district, Jharkhand state, India. Simaria is located 20 km from Chatra.

Geography

Simaria Kalan is located at 24°03′43″N 84°56′10″E / 24.0619°N 84.9360°E / 24.0619; 84.9360. It has an average elevation of 537 metres (1,762 ft).[1]

There are 17 panchayats and 100 villages in Simaria CD Block. [2]

Demographics

As per 2011 Census of India Simaria CD Block had a total population of 107,871, all of which were rural. There were 54,855 males and 53,016 females. Scheduled Castes numbered 32,496 and Scheduled Tribes numbered 8,761.[3]

Simaria Khurd had a population of 1,055 and Simaria Kalan had a population of 2,412 in 2011. [3]

Magahi, Nagpuri, Khortha, Hindi and Urdu are spoken in the region.[4]

Literacy

As per 2011 census the total number of literates in Simaria CD Block was 56,262 out of which 32,846 were males and 23,416 were females.[3]
