Pratappur (Hindi: प्रतापपुर) is a community development block that forms an administrative division in Chatra subdivision of Chatra district, Jharkhand state, India. It is located 47 km from Chatra.

Geography

Pratappur is located at 24°17′45″N 84°38′12″E / 24.29583°N 84.63667°E / 24.29583; 84.63667.[1]

There are 18 panchayats and 176 villages in Pratappur CD Block.[2]

Demographics

As per 2011 Census of India Pratappur CD Block had a total population of 120,221, all of which were rural. There were 61,780 males and 58,441 females. Scheduled Castes numbered 43,636 and Scheduled Tribes numbered 1,350.[3]

Literacy

As per 2011 census the total number of literates in Pratappur CD Block was 51,156 out of which 31,354 were males and 19,802 were females.[3]
