Lawalong(Hindi: लावालौंग) (also spelled Lawalaung) is a community development block that forms an administrative division in Simaria subdivision of Chatra district, Jharkhand state, India. It is located 35 km from Chatra.
Geography
Lawalong is located at 23°33′3″N 85°34′50″E / 23.55083°N 85.58056°E.[1]
There are 8 panchayats and 103 villages in Lawalong CD Block.[2]
Demographics
As per 2011 Census of India Lawalaung CD Block had a total population of 50,553, all of which were rural. There were 25,651 males and 24,502 females. Scheduled Castes numbered 28,926 and Scheduled Tribes numbered 2,690.[3]
Magahi, Nagpuri, Khortha, Hindi and Urdu are languages spoken in the region.[4]
Literacy
As per 2011 census the total number of literates in Lawalaung CD Block was 19,550 out of which 12,001 were males and 7,549 were females.[3]
Economy
- Market: A small market called as Lawalong Bazar is situated in middle of the block.
