The 2015–16 Football League Two (referred to as the Sky Bet League Two for sponsorship reasons) is the 12th season of the Football League Two under its current title and the 24th season under its current league division format. The season began on 8 August 2015, and will conclude on 7 May 2016.^[13]

Twenty-four clubs are participating, eighteen of which remain in League Two having been neither promoted nor relegated at the end of the 2014–15 season. These teams will join Notts County, Crawley Town, Leyton Orient and Yeovil Town, whom were relegated from 2014–15 Football League One, and also by Barnet and Bristol Rovers, whom were promoted from the 2014–15 Football Conference.

Play-offs

The play-offs are played between the teams that finish from fourth to seventh with the winning team gaining the final promotion spot to League One. The play-off semi-finals will see the seventh-placed team play the fourth-placed team and the fifth-placed team play the sixth-placed team. The team that finishes in the lower position will play at home in the first leg then play away in the second leg. If the aggregate score is level after both legs, then extra time will be played. If the scores are still level, a penalty shoot-out will decide the winner. The away-goals rule does not apply in the semi-finals.

The semi-finals will be held on 12–14 and 15–18 May.^[48] The winners from the two semi-finals will play at Wembley Stadium on 30 May 2016 in the play-off final.^[48]
