The 2015–16 season is FC Halifax Town's eighth season of existence and their third consecutive season in the National League.^[1] Along with competing in the National League, the club will also participate in the FA Cup and FA Trophy. It is also the 94th season of a club representing the town of Halifax.

Over the course of the season, they faced Conference South champions Bromley and the league's play-off winners Boreham Wood for the first time in a competitive fixture. Conference North play-off winners and local rivals Guiseley have met Halifax several times since 2008 and most notably were both Conference North promotion rivals between 2011 and 2013. They last met in the FA Trophy in 2013. Relegated Cheltenham Town and Tranmere Rovers met Halifax for the first time in 14 years and 15 years respectively. Conference North champions Barrow met the Shaymen for the first time since January 1970 in the old Third Division. Halifax also played Wycombe Wanderers for the first time in a competitive fixture having been drawn against them in the FA Cup 1st round.

Halifax made the FA Trophy final for the first time ever in what will also be their first ever appearance at Wembley Stadium, both old and new. The final will take place on 22 May 2016, almost 105 years to the day since Halifax Town AFC's formation on 24 May 1911.

• 1 May 2015: Stalybridge Celtic announce a pre-season friendly against Halifax.^[2]

• 16 May 2015: Halifax announce that James Bolton and Jake Hibbs have signed on for the 2015-16 season. Dominic Marie has also been invited back to pre-season training.^[3] Halifax also confirm that Richard Peniket will be out for around 7 months with a cruciate knee ligament injury sustained against Altrincham in March.^[4]

• 19 May 2015: Stalybridge announce that Halifax have pulled out of their friendly encounter.^[5] Hyde manager Gary Lowe confirms Halifax will play a friendly against the newly-renamed Hyde United^[6] and it is confirmed by the club the following day.^[7]

• 20 May 2015: Halifax announce they will visit Stockport County in a pre-season friendly for the third time in four years.^[8]
• 23 May 2015: Halifax announce friendlies against Tadcaster, neighbours Brighouse, Shelley and Oldham^[9][10] and confirm that Scott McManus and Kevin Roberts have signed for the following season.^[11]

• 24 May 2015: Halifax announce the signing of striker Dan Maguire from Blyth.^[12]

• 25 May 2015: Bradford Park Avenue announce the signing of midfielder Paul Marshall after he turned down the offer of a new deal.^[13]

• 26 May 2015: Halifax confirm Marshall's departure^[14] and announce that centre-back and club captain Marc Roberts has left to join Barnsley.^[15] Halifax also announce a pre-season friendly against Bradford Park Avenue^[16] and the signing of winger Josh Macdonald from Northern League Division One side Marske United.^[17]

• 27 May 2015: Halifax confirm the signing of Curzon Ashton's midfield captain Sam Walker.^[18]

• 28 May 2015: Halifax announce the signing of midfielder Elliott Whitehouse following his release from Notts County.^[19] Later, Tranmere announce the signing of midfielder Lois Maynard from Halifax following a successful two years with the club^[20] and then Accrington announce that they have signed Matty Pearson.^[21]

• 1 June 2015: Halifax announce a friendly against York.^[22]

• 3 June 2015: Halifax unveil their new home shirt and in turn announce that MBi Consulting, away shirt sponsors for the past two seasons, are the new home shirt sponsors.^[23][24] The following day the away kit is released and is sponsored by Integro (Doodson).^[25]

• 15 June 2015: Halifax announce that an XI will travel to face Farsley Celtic in a friendly.^[26]

• 17 June 2015: Tamworth announce the signing of Ross Dyer from Halifax.^[27]

• 18 June 2015: Bradford Park Avenue announce the signing of Danny Schofield from Halifax^[28] before Wrexham announce that they've signed Adam Smith.^[29]

• 19 June 2015: Guiseley announce the signing of Will Hatfield from Halifax.^[30]

• 23 June 2015: Halifax announce the signing of Matty Brown from Chester^[31] and later announce the signing of Andy Bishop from Wrexham.^[32]

• 25 June 2015: Halifax announce the signing of Jordan Burrow from Lincoln.^[33]

• 29 June 2015: Huddersfield announce that Jon Worthington is to become their new academy physio, hence leaving his role as physio at Halifax and ending his playing career.^[34]

• 1 July 2015: Halifax announce the signing of Hamza Bencherif from Lincoln.^[35]

• 4 July 2015: Halifax announce that goalkeeper Matt Glennon has signed a new 1-year contract with the club.^[36] Later in an interview with manager Neil Aspin it is confirmed that longest-serving player and goalkeeper Phil Senior has left the club to pursue a career outside of football. He had been at the club since its formation in 2008.^[37]

• 10 July 2015: Halifax announce that defender Steve Williams has been released by the club.^[38] Later he signed for Barrow.^[39]

• 11 July 2015: Halifax announce the signing of midfielder Kingsley James from Chester^[40] before beginning their pre-season schedule 2-0 at Tadcaster.

• 13 July 2015: Halifax announce that Scott Boden has been allowed to leave the club midway through his contract to join a League Two club.^[41] Later Newport announce that he has signed for them.^[42]

• 18 July 2015: Halifax announce the signing of winger Connor Hughes from Hyde.^[43]

• 27 July 2015: Alfreton announce that they have signed Jamie Jackson.^[44]

• 3 August 2015: Halifax announce that academy players Jack Bradley, Elliot Harrison and Josh Taylor sign first-team contracts with the club^[45] and that striker Shaun Tuton has signed following a successful trial.^[46]

• 5 August 2015: Halifax announce that goalkeeper Jordan Porter has signed following a successful trial^[47] however he will remain available for Emley via a dual registration.^[48]

• 7 August 2015: Halifax announce that Dan Maguire has rejoined Blyth after being unable to commit to travelling.^[49]

• 8 August 2015: Hamza Bencherif, Andy Bishop, Matty Brown, Jordan Burrow, who also scores a penalty, Connor Hughes, Kingsley James, Josh Macdonald, Shaun Tuton and Elliott Whitehouse make their debuts for Halifax and Jake Hibbs makes his full debut for the club two years after joining in a 1-3 defeat against Boreham Wood.
• 11 August 2015: Andy Bishop makes his full debut for Halifax in a 2-3 defeat against Torquay. Scott McManus also overtakes Danny Lowe to become Halifax's highest league appearance maker.
• 27 August 2015: Halifax announce that Andy Bishop has joined Southport.^[50]

• 29 August 2015: Halifax announce the signings of David Brooks and CJ Hamilton both on month long loans from Sheffield United.^[51][52] Later, Hamilton makes his debut for Halifax in 1-3 defeat at Wrexham. Sam Walker also makes his debut for the Shaymen and Scott McManus makes his 200th Town appearance, equalling Danny Lowe's all-time record for FC Halifax Town. Adriano Moke and Adam Smith also make their first appearances against Halifax since leaving the club.

• 31 August 2015: Halifax sign Halifax-born Danny Racchi^[53] and he, along with Connor Hughes, make their full debuts in a 3-1 win over Barrow, Town's first win of the season, their first win in 5 months and their first home win in little over half a year. David Brooks also makes his debut as a substitute, Shaun Tuton scores his first goal for the club and Scott McManus misses his first Halifax game since 25 January 2014.

• 1 September 2015: Elliot Harrison goes on a month's loan to Hyde.^[54]

• 4 September 2015: Halifax announce that Elliott Whitehouse has joined Nuneaton for an undisclosed fee after he was unable to adapt to part-time football.^[55]

• 5 September 2015: David Brooks' goal at Aldershot makes him FC Halifax Town's youngest ever goalscorer at 18 years and 59 days, replacing Matt Crooks and his effort against Histon on 31 March 2012 aged 18 years and 71 days.

• 8 September 2015: Halifax confirm that defender Graham Hutchison has joined Telford on a month's loan.^[56]

• 11 September 2015: Julian Banton signs for Halifax on a month's loan from Sheffield United, joining David Brooks and CJ Hamilton.^[57]

• 15 September 2015: Julian Banton makes his full debut in a West Yorkshire derby defeat at Guiseley as former captain Danny Lowe, Ryan Toulson and Will Hatfield get the better of their former club.
• 17 September 2015: Halifax announce that they have parted company with manager Neil Aspin following a "prolonged period of indifferent results."^[58] He had been manager of the club since April 2009 and was one of the longest serving managers in English football. He led the club to consecutive promotions from the Northern Premier League Division One North to the Conference North and then led the club back into the Conference Premier via the play-offs. Under his leadership, Halifax then remarkably made the play-offs before losing to Cambridge. A successful first half of the next season saw Halifax flirting with the play-offs before dropping away winning just 1 in 15. A start to this season of 1 win in 10 was enough for the board make the decision to part ways with Aspin. Jack Bradley also signs for Mossley on a month's loan.^[59]

• 19 September 2015: Gareth McClelland's first match in charge as caretaker manager ended in a 2-2 draw with Southport.

• 22 September 2015: Sam Walker makes his full Halifax debut in a 1-1 draw with Gateshead.
• 1 October 2015: Halifax announce the appointment of Darren Kelly as the club's new manager, with Jim Harvey as his assistant.^[60]

• 3 October 2015: Darren Kelly's first match in charge ends in a humiliating 1-7 defeat to Cheltenham, setting a new record for the new club's worst ever defeat and the worst defeat for a Halifax team since November 2003.
• 6 October 2015: Three days after the Cheltenham drubbing, Darren Kelly won his first game as new manager, Town's first away win of the season at Altrincham.
• 9 October 2015: Halifax announce the signing of Kieran Sadlier on loan from Peterborough until 9 January.^[61] He makes his debut the following day in a 0-3 defeat against Woking.

• 12 October 2015: Halifax announce the signing of Nicky Wroe on a month's loan from Notts County.^[62]

• 12 October 2015: Just 10 days after Halifax's new worst ever defeat, the record is beaten again as Town lose 0-7 at Grimsby.
• 17 October 2015: Connor Hughes joins Bradford Park Avenue on a month's loan,^[63] Danny Racchi, recently released by Halifax, joins Tamworth^[64] and Halifax sign Lincoln centre-back Nat Brown on a month's loan and ex-Ipswich midfielder Tommy Miller.^[65] Brown later makes his debut in a 2-1 defeat at Chester.

• 21 October 2015: Halifax announce the signing of Keil O'Brien on loan from Bury until 9 January.^[66]

• 23 October 2015: Halifax announce that Jake Hibbs has joined Telford on a month long loan deal.^[67]

• 24 October 2015: Tommy Miller and Keil O'Brien make their full Halifax debuts in a 2-2 FA Cup draw with Guiseley as Sam Walker scores his first goal for the club from a free-kick.
• 3 November 2015: Halifax sign goalkeeper Russell Griffiths on a month's loan from Everton.^[68]

• 8 November 2015: Russell Griffiths makes his Halifax debut meaning Matt Glennon misses his first Halifax match since 13 August 2013 and only his third match since joining the club in the summer of 2012. Halifax lose 0-4 in the FA Cup against Wycombe, a scoreline which slightly flatters the Chairboys as two late goals against a tiring Halifax side saw them come out winners despite a decent performance from Halifax for 75 minutes.
• 17 November 2015: Halifax sack Darren Kelly after just 47 days and 10 games in charge. Halifax conceded 35 goals in those 10 games.^[69]

• 21 November 2015: Jordan Porter makes his Halifax debut as Russell Griffiths is sent off, and Shaun Tuton scores a hat-trick in a 4-1 win at Gateshead. Griffiths later wins his appeal against the red card.^[70]

• 25 November 2015: Danny Hattersley joins Chester on loan until 19 January.^[71]

• 27 November 2015: Halifax announce that Russell Griffiths has returned to Everton and that they have signed Sam Johnson on loan from Port Vale,^[72] Ben Clappison on loan from Hull City^[73] and Shaquille McDonald on loan from Derby County.^[74]

• 28 November 2015: Sam Johnson makes his debut and Kevin Roberts makes his 50th Halifax appearance before going off injured as beat Dover 4-2 meaning they win successive games for the first time since February, which incidentally also involved a home win against Dover. It's also the first time they score 4 or more in consecutive games since November 2013.

• 5 December 2015: Ben Clappison makes his debut in a 1-1 draw with neighbours Guiseley.

• 15 December 2015: Shaquille McDonald makes his debut and scores as Halifax beat Tamworth 5-0 in the FA Trophy. A crowd of 439 means it is Halifax's lowest crowd at the Shay since 25 January 2010 in a Northern Premier League Challenge Cup game against North Ferriby. It is also the first time Halifax keep a clean sheet in 34 games since a 0-0 draw at Altrincham. It is also Halifax's biggest win since October 2014.

• 18 December 2015: Graham Hutchison rejoins Telford on a month's loan.^[75]

• 21 December 2015: Richard Peniket joins Telford on a month's loan.^[76]

• 22 December 2015: Jim Harvey is appointed as the club's permanent manager after the team went unbeaten with him as caretaker.^[77]

• 26 December 2015: Harvey's first game as permanent manager sees Halifax beat Lincoln 1-0 away, in turn seeing Halifax keep their first league clean sheet since March, a run of 32 games.

• 28 December 2015: Two days later Halifax beat Wrexham 2-0 to finish a poor 2015 on a high. They record their first home league clean sheet since March and consecutive clean sheets for the first time since February.

• 1 January 2016: Halifax's 2nd longest serving player Matt Glennon goes on a month's loan to Buxton.^[78]

• 4 January 2016: Sam Johnson and Shaquille McDonald extend their loans until 30 January and 1 February respectively.^[79][80]

• 9 January 2016: Halifax win 1-0 at play-off chasing Macclesfield to stretch Jim Harvey's unbeaten start as Halifax manager to 9 games, as Town go out of the relegation zone for the first time in the entire season.

• 15 January 2016: Halifax announce that Nicky Wroe has signed for the club on a permanent basis following his release from Notts County.^[81]

• 23 January 2016: Halifax sign Bosnian midfielder Dino Fazlic who had previously been with bottom side Kidderminster.^[82] He later makes his debut in a 1-1 draw at bogey side Woking as Town extend their and Harvey's unbeaten run to 11 games, their longest unbeaten run in almost 5 years. Richard Peniket also makes his first appearance for Halifax in 10 months following his cruciate ligament injury.

• 1 February 2016: Halifax announce that striker Shaun Tuton has signed for Barnsley for an undisclosed fee following a good run of form.^[83] Sam Johnson and Shaquille McDonald also extend their loans until the end of the season and the month respectively.^[84]

• 6 February 2016: Halifax sign striker Waide Fairhurst following his release from Torquay.^[85]

• 10 February 2016: Waide Fairhurst makes his debut as Halifax beat Chester 1-0 to reach the FA Trophy Quarter-final against Gateshead now managed by Neil Aspin.

• 12 February 2016: Halifax sign winger Billy Whitehouse on a month's loan from Doncaster.^[86]

• 13 February 2016: Jim Harvey's unbeaten 13 game run as manager comes to an end as his former club Forest Green win 0-2 at the Shay.

• 20 February 2016: Billy Whitehouse makes his debut and scores as Halifax beat Grimsby 4-2, avenging the earlier 0-7 defeat in arguably the best performance and result of the season.

• 27 February 2016: Former Halifax boss Neil Aspin, now Gateshead manager, faces his former side for the first time since being sacked. The games ends in a boring 0-0 draw, Halifax's first goalless draw for 11 months.

• 1 March 2016: Shaquille McDonald's loan is extended until the end of the season.^[87]

• 2 March 2016: Halifax beat Gateshead 5-4 on penalties following a 3-3 draw after extra time after Town equalised through Connor Hughes in the 92nd minute of normal time. They will face Nantwich over two legs for the chance to play at Wembley in the final. It was also Richard Peniket's 50th appearance for Halifax.

• 12 March 2016: Waide Fairhurst scores on his full debut as Halifax beat Nantwich 4-2, taking a lead into the 2nd leg of the FA Trophy semi-final. It is also James Bolton's 100th appearance for Halifax.

• 19 March 2016: Halifax draw 2-2 against Nantwich in the FA Trophy semi-final 2nd leg meaning they progress to final 6-4 on aggregate to face Grimsby at Wembley on 22 May, in what will be the club's first appearance at Wembley in 105 years of history.

• 5 April 2016: Kingsley James makes his 50th appearance for Halifax in a huge 3-2 win over relegation rivals Boreham Wood.

• 9 April 2016: Jordan Burrow makes his 50th appearance for Halifax in a disappointing 0-2 defeat against Aldershot.

• 30 April 2016: Halifax are relegated to the National League North following a 1-1 draw with Macclesfield.
