Canada is scheduled to compete at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, from 5 to 21 August 2016. Since the nation's debut in 1900, Canadian athletes have competed in every Summer Olympic Games of the modern era, except the 1980 Summer Olympics in Moscow because of the United States-led boycott.
Canadian athletes will be paid for medals earned. Gold medalists will earn $50,000; silver medalists will be paid $20,000; and bronze medalists $10,000, coming from the Athlete Excellence Fund.[1]
