The 2016 United States presidential election in Louisiana will take place on November 8, 2016, as part of the 2016 General Election in which all 50 states plus The District of Columbia participate. Louisiana voters will choose electors to represent them in the Electoral College via a popular vote.

On March 5, 2016, in the presidential primaries, voters expressed their preferences for the Democratic, and Republican, parties' respective nominees for President. Registered members of each party only voted in their party's primary, while voters who were unaffiliated weren't able to vote in the primaries.[1]

State Convention

On March 24, the State Convention met and reversed the results of the primary, giving Ted Cruz a clear majority.[3] Rubio's five delegates committed to Trump after Kasich and Cruz dropped out of the race.[4]
