The 2016 United States House of Representatives elections in Arizona will be held on November 8, 2016, to elect the nine U.S. Representatives from the state of Arizona, one from each of the state's nine congressional districts. The elections will coincide with the 2016 U.S. presidential election, as well as other elections to the House of Representatives, elections to the United States Senate and various state and local elections.

District 1

Democrat Ann Kirkpatrick was re-elected to a second term in 2014 with 52% of the vote.

Kirkpatrick is running for the U.S. Senate.[1]

For the Republicans, rancher and candidate for the seat in 2014 Gary Kiehne is running again.[2] Pinal County Sheriff Paul Babeu briefly ran for the 4th congressional district in 2012, before dropping out after it emerged that he had threatened to deport his gay lover if he outed Babeu as homosexual. Babeu was cleared of any criminal wrongdoing, and successfully sought re-election as Sheriff.[3] He has since started a federal PAC and may run for Congress in 2016.[4] Director of the state Weights and Measures Department, former Speaker of the Arizona House of Representatives and nominee for the seat in 2014 Andy Tobin may run again.[5]

District 2

Republican Martha McSally defeated Democratic incumbent Ron Barber in 2014 with 50% of the vote.

State Representative Bruce Wheeler had formed an exploratory committee to run for the Democratic nomination, but decided not to run after having surgery to repair a torn retina.[20][21]

Democrat Raúl Grijalva was re-elected to a seventh term in 2014 with 56% of the vote.

James K. Villarreal, a Senior Propulsion Engineer at Raytheon and University of Arizona instructor with a doctorate in aerospace engineering, has formed an exploratory committee for a potential primary challenge of Grijalva.[34]

Edna San Miguel, an artist and former teacher, formed an exploratory committee to run for the Republican nomination.[35]

District 4

Republican Paul Gosar was re-elected to a third term in 2014 with 70% of the vote.

Buckeye City Councilman Ray Strauss is challenging Gosar for the Republican nomination.[36]

Democrat Kyrsten Sinema was re-elected to a second term in 2014 with 54% of the vote.

Sinema is considering running in the United States Senate election in Arizona, 2016. [39]

If Sinema vacates the seat potential Democratic candidates include former State House Minority Leader Chad Campbell, State Senate Minority Leader Katie Hobbs, State Senator Andrew Sherwood, former Phoenix City Councilman Tom Simplot, Tempe Mayor Mark Mitchell, Tempe City Councilman Corey Woods, former Tempe Mayor Neil Giuliano, and Tempe City Councilman and perennial candidate David Schapira.

Engineer and business consultant Dave Giles is running for the Republican nomination. Potential Republican candidates include Phoenix City Councilman Sal DiCiccio, former Tempe Mayor Hugh Hallman, former State Senator Jerry Lewis, and 2014 candidate Andrew Walter. [40] 2014 Gubernatorial candidate Christine Jones won't run.[41]
